Microsoft Azure was Windows Azure. It is Microsoft’s cloud computing platform. It provides many different cloud services. These include compute, analytics, storage and networking. Customers can choose their services. They can develop new applications, and run existing applications in the Cloud. Its is organisational based. It aims to help businesses manage daily challenges. The tools which it offers will support all businesses and industry types. It is also compatible with open source technology. This gives flexibility in choosing tools and technologies. It also offers four different types of cloud computing. These are IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and serverless. You can pay for it a pay as you go basis. You are only billed for what you use.
How It Works
When a customer subscribes to Azure, they get access to all it’s services. you can access these in the Azure Customer Portal. They can do things such as create Virtual Machines and databases. Like many portals, it also provides third party software. These are available at a separate cost. Costs will vary, and usually involve a subscription fee. I may also include a usage fee.

Azure Cloud Services come in twenty four categories:
Compute: This allows users to manage Virtual Machines. It also allows users to support Remote Application Access. Resources created are configured with public IP addresses. They can also be configured with private IP addresses.
Mobile: This product allows users to build cloud applications for mobile devices. It provides notification devices. It also allows support for back-end tasks. Users can build tools for API interfaces.
Web: This services supports development of web applications. It offers features for search, content delivery, and API’s. It will also offer notification and reporting.
Storage: This service provides cloud storage for structured and unstructured data. It supports big data projects. It also supports persistent and archival storage.
Analytics: This service provides analytics and storage. It offers features real time analytics and big data analytics. Many other features include machine learning, business intelligence and internet of things.
Networking: This includes virtual networks and gateways. It offers services for traffic management and DNS Hosting. It provides protection against DDoS attacks.
Media & Content Delivery Network (CDN): These services include on-demand streaming. They also include digital rights protection. It provides encoding and media playback, as well as indexing.
Integration: This service provides server backup and site recovery. It also connects private and public clouds.
Identity: This service ensures only authorized users can access Azure Services. It includes support for Azure Active Directory and Multifactor Authentication.
Internet of Things: This service allows users to track and analyse IoT data from sensors. Services include notifications, support for coding and execution.
DevOps: This service provides project and collaboration tools. These include Azure DevOps. This facilitates software development processes. It also offers features for build tests and experimentation.
Security: This service identifies and responds to cloud security threats. It manages encryption keys and other sensitive assets.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning: This service allows developers to infuse AI. You can also infuse machine learning capabilities into applications.
Containers: Companies can create and orchestrate large volumes of containers. These are in the Azure cloud. They can use common platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
Databases: This service includes Database as a Service. They also include offerings for SQL and NoSQL. It also caters for other database instances. These include Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Database for PostgreSQL. It includes support for Azure SQL Data Warehouse. This is a database that provides SQL without the need to deploy an SQL server.
Migration: This group of tools allow a company to estimate workload migration costs. It can also perform migration of workloads from local data centres to Azure Cloud.
Management and Governance: This service provides backup, recovery and monitoring tool. This enables an admin manage Azure Deployment.
Mixed Reality: This service allows developers to create content for Windows Mixed Reality.
Blockchain: This service allows you to join a blockchain consortium. You can also create your own.
Intune: This allows you to enrol user devices. It makes it possible to push security policies and mobile apps. Mobile apps can be deployed to groups or a collection of devices. It provides tools to track which apps are used. You can also remotely wipe company data from devices. This will not remove users mobile apps.
